Life at Greys River Outfitters.
Greys River Outfitters is owned and operated by Tre and Olivia Heiner, and their two kids Clyde, and Quincy. They are life long residents to the mountain valley of Wyoming, Tre grew up exploring every inch of the Greys and Salt River ranges in his back yard. Tre started guiding right out of high school in 2007, and hasn't looked back. He now owns and operates multiple different camps in Western Wyoming. Greys River Outfitters is a sister business to his other camps and there is no place he would rather be than in the Greys River.
Our Greys River Outfitter camp is located in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Western Wyoming up the famous Greys River. We are permitted, licensed and insured. Greys River is home to one the greatest mule deer herds in the United States. The Wyoming and Salt River range mule deer herd has produced more B&C entries than any other herd in the state and most of the country. The Greys River is home to a large population of elk, moose, bear, and mountain lion. We offer spring and fall bear hunts over bait with high success rates and are know predominantly for the number of color phase bears. We run all our lion hunts in the winter with hounds and snowmobiles.
Our Wyoming tent camp is very clean and well organized with wood stoves, new cots, real shower stall and excellent meals. The Wyoming Outfitter Board gave this camp the best rating they can give. We have specially bred horses that are sure-footed, strong and gentle. All tack and equipment is well maintained. Our guides are dedicated, experienced and give you 100%.
A typical Wyoming hunting day begins well before sun up, with a delicious hot breakfast while your guides get the horses saddled and ready for the long day ahead. You will pack a lunch of your choosing and either mount up to hunt from camp or load the horses in trailers and truck to a fresh area of your guide's choosing. You will be in the saddle long before daylight starting your trek into the high rugged mountains, this puts you in the prime hunting country at the crack of dawn. We will glass the ridges and canyons for trophies feeding or traveling to their bedding areas and will also glass all day to try and catch something in or changing beds. Evenings we glass until dark to hopefully get a fresh tip of where to start tomorrow. When you arrive back at camp there will be a great meal, hot shower, exciting hunting stories and a warm comfortable tent and bed.
It is suggested that you be in the best physical shape possible for this hunt. This is very rugged and strenuous country with elevations ranging from 8,500 - 11,000 ft. Horse experience is a plus but not required. Practice shooting your rifle off hand. A fast, flat trajectory caliber with 140 grain bullet or more and sighted in and zero checked at camp is recommended. An average shot is 300 -400 yards.
At Greys River Outfitters we want to assist you with best possible experience you can have.
